Why is complete and correct product documentation so important? In addition to the legal requirements for product-related documents, the main aim here is to minimize your liability risk!

The General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 defines when a product is considered safe – if no harm to legal interests (i.e. injuries or damage to property) is to be expected within the intended area of use.

To avoid any misunderstandings, you must explain to the user of your products what the “intended use is” – and you do this in the operating instructions, maintenance instructions and repair instructions. If something is explained incorrectly or incompletely here, a dispute is inevitable.

The same applies to warnings regarding misuse. You must describe this clearly and unambiguously in the form of warnings.
