“Conformity of production” (CoP) – an important legal requirement.

With the approval of your product, you have cleared the first hurdle to be able and allowed to market your product in many/selected markets around the world.

So once you have received your approval in the first step, it is now a matter of doing everything you can to be allowed to keep it.

Did you know that as part of the actual approval of your product, you already have to demonstrate how you intend to provide proof of CoP (Conformity of Production) in ongoing production?

You will learn how to do this in our CoP training “Conformity of Production – Level 1”. Book directly and protect yourself from risks due to deviations!

How can I meet the requirements?

In fact, the requirements for conformity of production are much more complex than the requirements regarding the approval of products.

There are a variety of risks that can negatively impact product compliance.

This starts directly at the start of series production – the test sample used for approval was not yet a product of the current series. This gives rise to risks that need to be identified. And this also has consequences for the design of the CoP control plan.

And even in the current series, there are risks that can result from changing suppliers or technical adjustments. Your change management must target this here on approval-relevant characteristics.

Changes in legal regulations could also mean that your products are no longer considered compliant – but this does not apply in every case.

We will show you the most important/typical risks during our training. You will learn methods to help you identify any influencing variables and resulting deviations.

How can you deal with these risks?

On the one hand, your processes, which you have mapped in your QMS (quality management system), help you to do this. On the other hand, you must also provide evidence of this through concrete tests on your products in the current series.

But beware! Not everything that is tested in series production is automatically part of the CoP (Conformity of Production) scope. It is important to distinguish between quality assurance tests and CoP tests. This is because the objective and the methodology differ, although both can be interrelated and build on each other or complement each other.

Does that sound too complicated? It isn’t. We systematically guide you through the training and thus through the process of “procedures for conformity of production” or “procedures for conformity of products”. Oops! Two different formulations?! Does this mean the same thing or are there differences and clear delineations?

Determine samples, inspection intervals and sample size?

It is not the intent of the legislature that you have to go through the type approval process again on a regular basis.

Whether your product meets the legal requirements is tested and evaluated in great detail during the type test.

Subsequently, with the help of CoP, a valid conclusion must be drawn about the entire production. For this purpose, it is sufficient to test characteristics of the products at regular intervals by means of random samples, which allow sufficient conclusions to be drawn about the conformity of the products.

Learn in our training how to define a sufficiently large and, above all, random sample and protect yourself against risks (which can lead to a recall). And here definitely does not apply “much helps much”!
